Kandi
Kandi has extended her knowledge of psychology by working with noted sports psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella, and applies that to her work as a golf instructor. Kandi also qualified for five U.S. Opens, and finished in the top 15 in the 1987 event. She was also recognized as one of the top 10 amateur women golfers in the U.S. by Golf Digest in 1985. The Virginia State Golf Association acknowledged her career accomplishments with a special display, featuring her Curtis Cup jacket, in its Hall of Fame at the Independence Golf Club in Richmond.
During her time on the LPGA and Futures
professional circuits, where she recorded two victories, Kandi
began to develop her teaching skills. She eventually became the
instructor of LPGA Tour star Dottie Pepper, winner of 17 tour
events, including two majors. Kandi has subsequently turned her attention
to developing up-and-coming talent. Her roster of junior
golfers includes players who have received scholarships from
Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Michigan State, North
Carolina State, Kentucky, East Carolina and William and Mary. She was selected as the 2005 PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year, an
honor for which she was nominated by her peers and voted on by
the board of the PGA Mid-Atlantic region. Thanks to her outstanding record of
success, Kandi is now recognized as one of the finest teachers
in the game today.
