
Since 1995 Kandi has been mentoring players of all skill levels by providing them with a firm knowledge of the basic fundamentals of the game, with a special emphasis on the short game and course management. Evidenced by her being recognized four straight years by Golf For Women as a Top 50 Teaching Professional, and nominated several times for Golf Digest's Top 100, she brings to her teaching the lessons learned from some excellent mentors, including the late Davis Love, Jr., and noted sports psychologist, Dr. Bob Rotella. Thanks to their guidance, Kandi developed into one of the finest amateur golfers in the country, culminating in her selection to the U.S. team for the 1986 Curtis Cup, the leading international team competition for women golfers in the world, Kandi won five Virginia State junior and amateur championships, reached the final eight of several major national match play tournaments, an won two tournaments during her college career at the University of North Caolina, where she graduated with a degree in psycology. Kandi has extended her knowledge of psychology by working with noted sports psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella, and applies that to her work as a golf instructor.
Kandi also qualified for five U.S. Opens, and finished in the top 15 in the 1987 event. She was also recognized as one of the top 10 amateur women golfers in the U.S. by Golf Digest in 1985. The Virginia State Golf Association acknowledged her career accomplishments with a special display, featuring her Curtis Cup jacket, in its Hall of Fame at the Independence Golf Club in Richmond.
During her time on the LPGA and Futures professional circuits, where she recorded two victories, Kandi began to develop her teaching skills. She eventually became the instructor of the LPGA Tour star Dottie Pepper, winner of 17 tour events, including two majors and has coached Leah Wigger while she successfully earned her LPGA credentials. Kandi continues to give her attention to developing up-and-coming talent. Her roseter of junior golfers includes players who have received scholarships from Virginia, Virgnia Tech, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Kentucky, East Carolina, Randolf Macon and William and Mary. She was selected as the 2005 PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year, and honor for which she was nominated by her peers and voted on by the board of PGA Mid-Atlantic region. Thanks to her outstanding record of success, Kandi is now recognized as one of the finest teachers in the game today and recently was named US Kids Top 50 Junior Instructors.
