Productive
Practice Equals Lower Scores
When a golfer decides to
devote time to practice, it is important to have a plan for the session. Here
are five suggestions to get the most out of your practice session.
- Always hit your ball to a very specific target. You would never (I hope!)
hit a shot on the golf course to a wide, general area.
- Never hit more than three balls at the same target.
Change targets, change your club, change something. It will keep you thinking
and focused.
-
Practice hitting balls from strange situations ... side hill lies, out of
the rough, out of divots, off hardpan surfaces. How many 5-iron shots on
perfectly level ground do you actually hit when you play?
- Actually play the golf course on the driving range. Hit
the tee shot, hit the second shot and so on. Treat every shot like it means
something.
- Always save time to practice some short game shots. This
includes putting.
If you try these five suggestions, I think you will get more
out of your practices and therefore the practice will pay off on the golf
course. Good luck and be creative with your practice.
